I signed up for CDFF simply to explore the site and see whether it might be a legitimate Christian dating option. I took the time to create an account and complete my profile, including providing personal information and photos. Before I was ever able to properly navigate the website, view my completed profile, interact with anyone, or actually use the service, I was banned. No meaningful explanation was provided. What I find especially unsettling is that after being banned, I cannot access my account to see what information is actually associated with my profile, make changes, or delete my account and personal information. I understand that dating sites need moderation and security measures. However, automatically banning someone who has not had an opportunity to even use the service, without giving them any explanation or a way to access and delete their own account, is extremely concerning. I signed up in good faith. I did not have the opportunity to do anything on the site that would warrant this kind of treatment. If CDFF is going to collect personal information from people who create accounts, I believe users should have a clear and accessible way to retrieve, manage, and delete their information, even if their account has been banned. My experience left me feeling uncomfortable rather than safe, and I would caution others to think carefully about how much personal information they provide before signing up.
