Edit the sounds and effects by moving and twisting colored blocks. Yellofier doesn’t look like any other music program. You can create a full song within minutes – even without knowing anything about music!

Create unique music with your own sounds and with the sounds of Yello’s musical maestro Boris Blank. The Yellofier also includes sounds and songs by some of the greatest musicians within electronic music. Anything can be yellofied!

• Automatically slice your sound into 8 pieces and create a groove • Record up to 16 custom sounds per song, divided into two user sound banks • Combine sounds and effects in an innovative step sequencer • Change pitch of each step to create melodies • Multiple effects and variations • Share your work • 112 bundled sounds by Boris Blank • Songs and sounds by the finest artists within electronic music: Carl Craig, Henrik Schwarz, The Orb, Trentemøller, Booka Shade, Orbital, The The, Thomas Fehlmann, Charles Webster, Håkan Lidbo and more… • Record the sound of other Audiobus compatible apps • Play back the sound into other Audiobus compatible apps For best sound, use headphones.

NOTE: Since version 1.2, the preview-sound function changed from single tap to long-press! So the functionality is not gone, but we changed to long-press to not interfere with the music.

User Reviews

Yellofier is praised for a creative, instrument-like approach to sampling that sparks quick ideas. Reviewers note fast loop creation, solid export with AudioShare/Audiobus, and fun real-time features like auto-slice, randomization, and glitchy effects. Recurring downsides include stability issues (crashes), uneven iOS compatibility, and a learning curve for some users. Several also point out depth gaps: a single 8-sample library, no external sample import, and no MIDI/Link/AUv3 or precise clock sync with other apps. Overall, a beloved, inspiring tool with notable caveats.
Pros
  • Creative, instrument-like sampler/sequencer that’s inspiring and uniquely fun to use.
  • Fast to create loops and ideas, letting you whip up long sequences quickly.
  • Excellent export/interoperability with AudioShare and Audiobus for easy sharing and processing.
  • Strong real-time features (auto-slice, randomization, swing/triplets, glitch effects) that yield interesting results.
  • Longstanding favorite that keeps delivering inspiration and a distinctive workflow.
Cons
  • Stability issues (crashes) and reliability problems.
  • Inconsistent compatibility with iOS versions and OS updates.
  • Not intuitive for some users and has a learning curve.
  • Depth gaps: only one 8-sample library and no ability to import external samples; missing MIDI/AUv3/Link and clock sync.

Love this app. Exporting song to email seems to just save one loop not the whole song ;( Otherwise utterly brilliant

The year is 2022. I have only just discovered this app. It is now one of two main apps I use for getting started. This app is bare-bones, there’s no audio unit or inter app audio functionality, and I don’t care in the slightest. You can whip out an 100 bar sequence in no time and export to AudioShare (pro tip: solo each of the four channels and export for “stems”) and chop and arrange the bits elsewhere; which is exactly what I’ve been doing. So many apps try to emulate physical hardware or apps from a computer. We need more apps like this that make our touch screen devices feel like a living instrument. Five stars!
