Speed Tracker: GPS Speedometer

Trip Distance and Route Map

Features & Capabilities

Speed Tracker combines a GPS speedometer and trip computer into one elegant app. It records speed, time, distance, heading, elevation, and more in real time, with a Head-Up Display (HUD) that projects speed onto your windshield for quick reference.

Built-in GPS tracking provides a map view and navigation mode to keep you on course. The Trip Log stores all trips with speed graphs, average/max speeds, distance, and duration, and exports are available in CSV, KML, and GPX formats. A PRO plan unlocks unlimited trips. Notes cover compatibility and battery considerations: not compatible with WiFi-only iPad or iPod touch; GPS runs in the background can affect battery life; map data requires a connection; enable Location Services.

User Reviews

Users like Speed Tracker for its ease of use, large display, and generally accurate, detailed speed/mileage data, with free or affordable access. However, multiple reviews report data reliability problems (missing data, odd speeds, stopping trips), licensing/refund frustrations, intrusive ads, Apple Watch issues, and missing map/navigation features. Overall it’s useful and versatile but reliability, pricing friction, and platform integration concerns limit its appeal for some users.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a large, clear visual screen.
  • Accurate, detailed trip data (max speed, average speed, timestamps, map trail).
  • Free to use and/or affordable pricing.
  • Reliable performance with good satellite reception and offline usability.
  • Works well across cars, bikes, boats, planes, and other activities.
Cons
  • Data reliability issues: trips stop recording or missing data with implausible speeds.
  • Licensing and refund hassles: recharging on new devices and trouble canceling or getting refunds.
  • Intrusive ads and monetization: popup screens and ad clutter.
  • Apple Watch compatibility problems: watch app stops or doesn’t appear after setup.
  • Gaps in map directions and unit display: lack of Apple Maps integration and no simultaneous mph/km/h display.
