User Reviews

Users repeatedly praise Rev for turning meetings into notes with live/AI transcription and long recording capabilities, especially for professionals like lawyers and journalists. They cite accuracy and cost-effectiveness, as well as strong productivity gains. Common drawbacks are privacy concerns (transcripts processed off-device), cross‑platform syncing gaps, billing friction, stability issues (freezes/crashes, potential data loss after updates), and uneven transcription reliability. Overall, the app is powerful and helpful but users warn of privacy, reliability, and ecosystem friction across devices.
Pros
  • Strong note-taking and meeting transcription that helps create meeting minutes and action items.
  • AI transcription is accurate and cost-effective.
  • Long-recording capability with reliable performance (hours of recording).
  • Versatile for professionals (law firms, journalists, content creators) and improves productivity.
  • Free version includes live transcription without a paid subscription.
Cons
  • Privacy concerns: transcription is processed on an outside website, raising trust/privacy issues.
  • Cross-device sync problems: mobile and desktop versions do not sync transcripts or data.
  • Billing and payment friction: repeatedly prompts to add a payment method and issues completing purchases.
  • Stability issues and data loss risk: freezing during recovery, crashes on share, updates can cause loss of recordings.
  • Transcription reliability concerns: slow transcripts, frequent failures, or low word output on some tasks.

I had the Rev Call Recorder app which they suddenly shut down this fall without any warning. Now I can’t access my old recordings that I need for a work project. The customer service says only Apple can help, and of course Apple support says only the app developer can help. Don’t trust this company- they’ll just lose your audio files.

You still have to go off of Rev’s website on an iPad so not sure why this app was invented. It doesn’t do anything.
