Features & Capabilities

911 Dispatch is a Chrome extension that lets you listen to live police, fire, and EMS frequencies. It provides real-time feeds, integrated maps for visual context around calls, and a built-in police code list to follow the action.

Key features include alpha tags and metadata support, realistic LCD-style text, favorites, an intuitive interface, background audio, auto-updating feeds, and location-aware maps. It supports stereo Bluetooth audio for in-vehicle listening. Location availability varies by feed, and Crushed Box Software does not own or operate the feeds.

User Reviews

Users praise the app for accessing police/fire scanner feeds across many jurisdictions and while traveling. But reliability is repeatedly criticized: channels go offline or won’t connect; the app lags and freezes; local coverage is uneven, with many users lacking their area feeds. Paid users report stations aren’t available despite listings and refunds are difficult. Other recurring complaints include feed overlaps, cross-county interference, and inaccurate status reports. Overall, the app’s functionality is inconsistent, undermining trust in channel availability despite its broad scanning capabilities.
Pros
  • Easy to use with multiple jurisdictions to scan.
  • Portable and usable on the go, including while traveling.
  • Generally positive; described as a great/fantastic police scanner app.
  • Long-term user appreciation and loyalty.
Cons
  • Channels frequently go offline or won’t connect, making the app unreliable.
  • App lags and freezes when switching stations.
  • Local coverage is inconsistent or missing; often cannot hear local agencies.
  • Paid version promises stations listed elsewhere but many aren’t available; refunds are difficult.
  • Feeds can overlap or cross into other counties and feed status can be inaccurate.

I couldn't even look at anything without purchasing it first. Way to go dude that created this. Great way to make money and screw people over. This app is uninformative of its channels, knows my location now and who knows what else trying to find my city in it was impossible. You pretty much just get the County and that's it. I'm going to try to get a refund. Oh wait, it says I can't get a refund. What a surprise! I hope I remember your name because I will never even look at any apps that you make. This app is terrible folks.
