Features & Capabilities

Finger Timer is a pocket-friendly, elegant timer for speedcubing and speedstacking. It supports wireless display connections, shows practice stats (Ao5; Ao12 in the full version), and offers both a free version with ads and a full, no-ads experience.

How to use: Place fingers on the left and right pads until the red/green lights indicate readiness, then release to start. To stop, place fingers back on the pads. To restart, press RESET and repeat. For display, connect the Timer and a display device on the same Wi-Fi network, enter the timer address in the browser, and press Start. The app tracks times automatically and shows Ao5 (and Ao12 in the full version) in the About page, which also lets you copy or clear stats.

User Reviews

Finger Timer is praised as a free, ad-free, accurate timer suitable as a cubing replacement, with history and averages. Many users value its simplicity and portability. However, reviews frequently report reliability issues (start/stop failures, miscounts, 0s freezes) and data persistence problems (times not saved after closing). Feature requests include an inspect countdown, +2s/DNFs, and more attempts. Overall a strong timer hampered by reliability and feature gaps that need fixes.
Pros
  • Free to use with no ads
  • Accurate timer with minimal lag
  • Great replacement for a dedicated speed timer; simple and reliable for cubing
  • Keeps solve history and shows averages/records
Cons
  • Reliability issues starting/stopping and occasional timing inaccuracies (e.g., miscounts, timer stops unexpectedly)
  • Times and stats don’t always save when closing the app (data persistence problems)
  • Missing features users want (inspect countdown, +2s/DNFs, more than five attempts in the free version)
  • Occasional lag or delayed updates in some sessions

As a cube beginner, I just needed a timer that would be similar to a normal one you would see at a comp. This app was just that! It is perfect if you just want a timer!
