Features & Capabilities

The Garmin Connect extension is your all-in-one hub for health and fitness data. After pairing a compatible Garmin device (Forerunner, Venu, fēnix, or another Garmin) with your phone, you can review your tracked activities and health metrics, and you can create customized workouts and courses to stay motivated.

Personalize your home screen for quick access, analyze detailed statistics, and challenge friends on the leaderboard. Garmin Connect also syncs with Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Strava, and other apps, enabling cross-platform tracking and insights. User Reviews

Users praise Garmin Connect for navigation and feature breadth, but recurring issues dominate: post-update connectivity glitches, frequent bugs and sync failures, a disliked UI overhaul, and the Connect+ subscription gating features. Additional concerns include missing features (gear maintenance, custom exercises) and data gaps (steps/weight). Overall, reliability and UX problems outweigh the positives.
Pros
  • Easy to navigate and informative UI.
  • Broad feature set with good device compatibility (Garmin Edge/watches) and solid integration with Strava.
  • When functioning, the app provides real value for Garmin users.
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity/pairing issues after updates, requiring constant re-connection of watch/Edge to the iPhone.
  • Bugs and data/sync failures introduced by updates (e.g., failed ride uploads, update-related problems).
  • UI/UX regression after the platform overhaul, making it harder to find data and view stats.
  • Connect+ subscription model gating features and often viewed as undesirable by users.
  • Missing/removal of features and data gaps (gear maintenance tracking, ability to add custom exercises, and inconsistent metric reporting such as steps/weight history).

Every time I go to make a course in the freehand section it always just deletes my entire course after around 2.5 miles pls fix this.

Garmin’s interfaces are very unrefined, experience is clunky, and the device pairing/connectivity is god-awful. My Fenix 8 has been connected to my phone for months but every few days it just stops syncing weather data to the watch or health metrics to the app; normally, this can be remedied with all the various troubleshooting steps which is borderline acceptable, but today I am having such issues that I am having to reset the watch’s device settings, deleting/re-installing the app and still am not having luck. Come on, guys, I don’t want to use Apple/Google watches, but this is insane.
