User Reviews

Users praise Megapolis for its vast, deep city-building scope and nostalgic appeal, especially among long-time players. However, multiple reviews highlight persistent update bugs blocking play, confusing onboarding, and poor support. Monetization shifts and removal of daily rewards foster a pay-to-win perception, while extensive grinding and scarce resources frustrate free-to-play players. Some updates also erase progress or rewards. Overall, the game remains beloved by veterans, but many consider quitting due to these reliability, monetization, and guidance issues.
Pros
  • Very large, expansive city-building game with a wide range of buildings and systems.
  • Long-running title with nostalgic appeal and a dedicated base of veteran players.
  • Deep, multi-layered gameplay offering substantial content for players who invest time.
  • Rich variety of city-management elements (planes, trains, roads, etc) contributing to gameplay breadth.
Cons
  • Updates frequently introduce bugs that block play (stuck on intro/tutorial prompts, faulty prompts, crashes).
  • Monetization concerns: removal of daily rewards and a shift toward pay-to-progress feel with real-money purchases.
  • Significant grinding and resource demands make progression slow or require purchases or many in-game gifts.
  • Poor onboarding and confusing UI with limited guidance; lack of reliable support or community help (including difficulty deleting accounts).
  • Progress losses and nerfs after updates (lost buildings/rewards) undermining long-time players' efforts.

I started this game probably over a decade ago when I was starting High School and it was super addicting and great. After not playing it after a year or so I’ve come back to so many weird updates. The airport/helicopter and warehouse is horrible. The amount of stuff you need to do to build and do project is ridiculous. Unless you’re actually spending insane amounts of money on the game it’s not worth it. You use to be able to just build and create your city without a lot of fuss and that’s not possible anymore. Not to mention. with all the projects and specials taking place at any given time your screen is taken up with a bunch of nonsense not letting you see much of your screen. So sad seeing this game wither away.
