User Reviews

Overall, users love Taste of the South's magazine content and recipes, especially on iPad, and enjoy taking recipes with them. However, recurring issues dominate: purchases aren’t recognized and bought content can’t be opened or restored; new issues are often unavailable; digital pricing is confusing; the UX/navigation worsened after updates; and there are occasional crashes. The app delivers strong recipe content and visuals, but purchasing, access, and navigation friction significantly detract from the overall experience.
Pros
  • Excellent recipes and appealing food photos.
  • Magazines and recipes are accessible on the iPad, offering travel-friendly reading.
  • Overall magazine content is enjoyable and well-loved by readers.
Cons
  • Purchases/subscriptions are not recognized; users are prompted to buy again or cannot access already purchased content.
  • Inability to download or access purchased issues; new issues often unavailable or not visible.
  • Poor UX and navigation after updates; content organization and restoration of purchases are confusing; redesigned interfaces make it hard to locate bought issues.
  • Digital pricing is confusing and not clearly aligned with print subscriptions; users feel they are being asked to pay twice for digital access.
  • App stability issues including crashes.

e magazines and Hoffman did not honor my customer loyalty and will not allow access to digital content that l purchased throughout my digital subscription and gave me every excuse on why l couldn't have access. Don't purchase digital products through either companies

This is not easy to navigate. I cannot tell if I have a subscription or not. When I click on a new magazine it wants me to buy it. Also new special issues do not show up. Or.....they are behind in posting them. I am ready to cancel the whole thing except I love their magazines. I got an email today saying they have a new special issue and it is not there. Bring back the old app. It was easy to use. Enough complaining.

It doesn’t seem to update. I bought a $20 yearly subscription, but I can’t access new issues whenever they come out. It doesn’t even show them as an option on the app.
