Features & Capabilities

Cubase iC Pro is a Chrome extension that acts as a remote control for Cubase, delivering project view, mixer control, and a dedicated key command page to speed up your workflow. It mirrors Cubase's project layout, so you can see your work as you do in the DAW, and use keyboard shortcuts and macros to automate your most-used actions.

Please note that Cubase iC Pro requires a live connection to Cubase to function. Some features depend on advanced Cubase versions. The Steinberg SKI Remote must be installed before using Cubase iC Pro (download at http://www.steinberg.net/ski). For updates and fixes, visit Steinberg's mobile apps forums. If you enjoy the app, consider rating it on the App Store.

User Reviews

Reviews consistently praise Cubase iC Pro as a valuable remote control for Cubase, offering transport controls, macros, and a smoother workflow that frees you from the desktop. However, the app suffers from reliability issues: frequent connectivity problems, lag, and crashes, especially with newer Cubase versions such as Cubase Pro 14. Setup can be complex, often needing manual IP entry, firewall rules, and additional software. Compatibility gaps and a patchy update history remain common complaints, though recent updates have improved stability when it works.
Pros
  • Remote control of Cubase with transport functions and macros, saving time and letting you focus on recording.
  • Wireless control acts as a portable second control surface, reducing trips to the computer and keeping your workflow centered on the session.
  • When working, it offers robust features (full transport control, access to pools/media bays, and macro shortcuts) that improve efficiency.
  • Supported across multiple Cubase versions and devices, making it a versatile tool for studio setups.
Cons
  • Connectivity problems and lag between actions (start/stop/record), especially with newer Cubase versions like Cubase Pro 14.
  • Stability issues including frequent crashes on startup or when entering IP addresses.
  • Poor out-of-the-box support for newer Cubase releases requiring manual firewall rules, extra software, or extensive configuration.
  • Long setup friction due to network requirements and IP address manual entry, making it hard to use without fiddling.
  • Perceived lack of ongoing updates or inconsistent support history.
Recent reviews
I’ve been using the app for a good while and more frequent lately due to a reconfiguration of my home studio. Cubase iC Pro is an incredible helpful tool especially when I work on recordings without anybody else being present. For the most part I’m using it to start and stop recordings w/o the need to make a run to my desktop. It is not only a time saver, but also allows me to stay more focused on the parts that I want to record rather than controlling Cubase directly. I’ve tried it in the past, too, but don’t recall how reliable is used to work. It does work flawlessly with Cubase 13 Pro and 14 Pro.
