User Reviews

Unicode Character Viewer often works for glyphs when system-wide font installation is done (via iFont/AnyFont), enabling copy-paste into design apps. However, many reviewers report it only shows basic Apple fonts, requires OS-level font installation, and can produce unreliable paste results. The app’s usefulness depends on external font setup, and compatibility issues after iOS updates are common. Overall, it’s helpful for some workflows but inconsistent and not a true font manager.
Pros
  • Allows copying and pasting glyphs straight from the app when fonts are properly installed system-wide
  • Works across iPad and iPhone for design tasks (e.g., Procreate, Cricut Design Space) once fonts are installed
  • When used with font installation tools (e.g., iFont/AnyFont) it can display and copy glyphs
  • Positive feedback from users who rely on access to special characters for design work
  • Some users appreciate ongoing updates and developer support
Cons
  • Does not show downloaded fonts unless they are installed at the OS level; it is not a font installer
  • Only basic/system fonts are reliably shown; many non-Apple fonts do not appear
  • Copying glyphs can be blank or paste incorrectly into other apps (inconsistent results)
  • Setup is confusing and relies on third-party font managers; there are few or no clear in-app instructions
  • Compatibility issues with iOS updates; some users report it stops working until an update is released

I cannot say enough how much this app has helped me. I like designing on Canva on my iPad but every time I wanted to use glyphs I had to go to my very old computer and copy the glyphs. Now I don’t need to!! I did a lot of research before buying because I wanted to make sure it would work and I’m so glad I decided to take the leap. If you need to copy glyphs to Canva, this will work, just make sure you follow the right steps. You do need to download the font you want, upload to Canva and make sure said font is selected when you paste your glyph, download iFont and install the font to your device using iFont, then browse installed fonts on Unicode Character Viewer, find the font and glyph you want and click on the share button and copy, then you can just go to Canva and paste on your text box. Seems like a lot but is pretty simple, plus once the font is already installed next time you just need to copy and paste.
