User Reviews

Many reviews praise the Chicago Magazine app for its new design and organized layout, and for delivering high-quality magazine content. When the app functions, readers report a good reading experience and find the digital version worth the subscription. However, the majority of feedback centers on reliability issues: frequent crashes, failure to download issues, and the app not recognizing subscriptions or login credentials. Additional complaints include a clunky, image-only reading experience with scrolling limitations, and occasional pay-for-download or refund concerns. Overall, users want a stable, responsive app with genuine digital features and straightforward access to their subscriptions.
Pros
  • New, improved design and user interface.
  • Content quality remains excellent.
  • When it works, the reading experience is strong.
  • Easy to download and the app is well organized when available.
  • Value for money / worth the purchase.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability.
  • Subscriptions/login issues and credentials not recognized.
  • Download failures or issues accessing downloaded issues.
  • Poor reading experience due to image-only pages and limited scrolling.
  • Pricing concerns (being charged for a 'free' download) and inconsistent customer support.

I can’t even read the magazine on the app. Followed the directions but I am unable to read the digital magazines.

The digital version is basically just images of the magazine pages in a single file with minimal interactivity. It’s cumbersome and annoying to use. Now I remember why I let my digital subscription lapse in the past.

Continually having problem with downloading issues. Will work fine one day, next day download gone and won’t allow another as if I don’t have a subscription. Have to delete app, download again constantly. Very frustrating and not user friendly. Shame because magazine content is excellent.
