User Reviews

Users praise the BluOS Controller app for its simple, intuitive interface and stable use when it works, but repeatedly flag major reliability problems. The top concerns are connectivity/discovery failures, update-related outages or bricking, slow responsiveness, music service integration issues, and playlist/library problems after updates. Overall, the app’s usability is strong in theory but plagued by frequent instability and update-induced regressions.
Pros
  • Interface is simple and intuitive to use.
  • Generally easy to use with Bluesound hardware and described as stable when functioning.
  • When updates restore features (e.g., Qobuz Connect) users note improved operation.
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity/discovery failures (not seeing/connecting to players or nodes, slow to connect).
  • Updates often cause outages, reset settings, or even brick the system.
  • App is slow or unresponsive (delays in basic commands like skipping).
  • Music service integration issues (difficulty adding or maintaining services).
  • Playlists and library management can be damaged or become inaccessible after updates.

Really poor app, you don’t have to look far to discover all the issues with the app and player. App never reconnects after an update if you use an ethernet cable. App looses the player almost every time I open it. Lastly you have to use the app, with no alternative.

I’ve been using this system for years. Recently, the app has been disconnecting from the unit. When trying to reconnect, I get stuck in a doom loop of my phone trying to connect to the unit, it not connecting, me hitting “Cancel” on the app with the hopes of getting into the app itself, but instead, the app tries to reconnect to the unit. Over and over and over.
