User Reviews

The Orchestra is highly praised for its design, educational value, and immersive audiovisual content, making it a standout tool for learning about orchestras at home or in class. Users cite accessible navigation, clear instrument explanations, and strong audio/video quality as major strengths. However, recurring downsides include a redesigned interface that removed useful classroom features, occasional crashes when selecting pieces, limited content, and macOS stability bugs. Overall, it's a powerful learning tool with room for growth in content and resilience.
Pros
  • Beautiful design with clear instrument descriptions and a strong educational focus.
  • Excellent audio and video fidelity, with synchronized visuals that enhance comprehension.
  • Easy to use and navigate, making it accessible for beginners, students, and families.
  • Rich, engaging content that broadens musical appreciation and is suitable for classrooms and homeschooling.
  • Great value for money, offering substantial content and features for the price.
Cons
  • Recent redesign removed key classroom features such as instrument zoom, notes during instrument excerpts, and enlarged video clips.
  • App can crash or close when selecting a piece, indicating stability issues.
  • Library/content is limited, with only a small number of songs and pieces; many users want more.
  • Occasional bugs on macOS and general stability concerns despite improvements.

It is even better in its original platform the iPad; but having it play in the background during a stressful medical clinic day takes some of the stress away while at my desk at lunch and the end of the day writing notes.

I think that this is a great app. It works very well on macOS with the exception of some bugs that occasionally happen.

Fantastic app, I feel sad that so much work has gone into this and only one review and it is negative. This app works well here on macOS and great for going through with my children and teaching them and learning with them. They could have made the click and drag on the instruments to solo them a button to make that more obveous, nice feature to add in there sad to kind of hide it. It is a little odd the alphabetical order in the score wish there was a way to change that to default score order. The price is amazing for what you get and all the video and explanations. I hope that the app gets more positive reviews and more content like this is made. Clearly a lot of work has been put into this. Sad someone gives a 1 star because they don't like the orchestral order and disregards everything else.
