User Reviews

True Skate offers deeply satisfying, physics-based skating with intuitive finger controls and a large, moddable map/currency system that rewards practice. Players praise its realistic board feel, variety of maps, and community-driven customization. However, reviews consistently flag monetization as a major drawback, with many maps and cosmetics locked behind heavy grind or paywalls and occasional currency resets. Technical issues also recur, including crashes, account and progress loss, and occasional trick-detection glitches. Overall, it's an excellent skate sim with serious monetization and reliability caveats that vary by user.
Pros
  • Realistic, satisfying physics and responsive board controls that feel accurate and fun.
  • Extensive content and customization—many maps, DIY obstacles, and a thriving mod/community ecosystem.
  • Addictive, pick-up-and-play skate experience that’s easy to learn but hard to master.
  • Active development and ongoing support from the developers.
Cons
  • Pay-to-win monetization with expensive maps and heavy grinding; progression is gated behind purchases.
  • Account and purchase issues—loss of progress or money and content resets.
  • Frequent bugs and crashes, including warehouse maps crashing and startup crashes.
  • Inconsistent trick detection and control quirks (miscounts and wrong trick registrations).

The new update sucked. The new mechanic with picking your board type is dumb and confusing. Wish they just kept it the way it was.
