User Reviews

My first reading of the devotional Word for Today, dated 7 May, 2023, was a disappointment. In the devotional, the writer said ‘Abraham got Hagar pregnant in order to fulfill God’s promise then when Isaac was born a year later, he sent her away without child support.’ In Genesis 16:16 the Bible clearly states that Abram was 86 years old when Ishmael was born and in Genesis 21: 5 he was 100 years old when Isaac was born. That means that Ishmael was 14 years old when Isaac was born. Abraham did not send Hagar and Ishmael away as soon as Isaac was born. They went after Isaac was weaned which was some time after! It is important to know the Bible thoroughly when using it as reference in your devotional.
