Features & Capabilities

Vernier Graphical Analysis GW is a data-collection and analysis tool for science students to work with Vernier Go Wireless sensors. It supports Vernier Go Wireless Temp and pH sensors, Go Wireless Heart Rate and Exercise Heart Rate monitors, LabQuest sensors via Go Wireless Link or LabQuest Stream, some Go Direct sensors, and NODE by Variable Inc. It offers data-collection modes (time-based, event-based, and drop counting), sensor calibrations, zero/reverse options, graph matching, and manual data entry. Data sharing via Wi‑Fi to LabQuest 2 or Logger Pro is supported, along with built-in sensors and manual entry that do not require hardware purchases.

On the analysis side, you can display up to three graphs, view data in a table or side-by-side with a graph, draw predictions, interpolate/extrapolate, and apply statistics and curve fits. You can create calculated columns, pinch to scale graphs, and export graphs and data in CSV for Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers. The extension is part of Vernier's long‑standing science education ecosystem, with over 35 years of experience; note that the app will not receive updates and that data sharing requires Vernier hardware.

User Reviews

Overall, the app shows potential for quick, lab-focused graphing on iOS, but widespread crashes and a confusing, jargon-heavy UI hinder its classroom usefulness. Users report stability problems, hard-to-use workflows, and missing essential features, with only a subset praising easy workflows or faster results compared to alternatives.
Pros
  • Useful for quick graphical analysis in science labs.
  • Works on iOS devices for lab data collection with axis adjustments; convenient for experiments (e.g., gas law).
  • Some reviewers find it intuitive and faster for quick results than alternatives like Google Sheets.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and stability issues (start-up crashes, crashes during use, crashes after claimed fixes).
  • Difficult to navigate UI; maze-like interface with heavy scientific terminology.
  • Clunky data entry and graph creation; hard to manage graphs and delete extra tables.
  • Missing essential features and data-transfer limitations (e.g., integral function missing; LabQuest data not transferring smoothly).

I have had nightmares from my terrible experience using this app. I hope that no one will endure the same fate.
