Pros

Strong, multi-source news coverage from agencies with local Singapore/Asia context.
Content loads quickly and is generally up-to-date.
Clean, easy-to-navigate interface in the newer version with a focus on current Singapore/Asia news.
Good for cross-checking facts due to multiple sources.

Cons

Intrusive ads and video ads that disrupt reading, including autoplay video ads and pop-ups.
Poor tablet UX: no landscape mode on iPad/tablets and navigation issues, making reading and browsing painful.
Stability and reliability problems: app crashes when videos play, won’t open, or hangs frequently.
Missing accessibility/features: cannot easily adjust font size and offline download is unreliable.
Push notifications don’t work (and some feedback features don’t function).

I guess the developers don’t really use the app for news consumption. Deleting the app so that I don’t get redirected to the app for CNA links. Huge pity cos the content is good.

The tablet version of this app, if you can even call it that, is basically a giant iPod touch version. It’s stuck in profile mode and even “wide” screen video is presented in profile mode. So if you enjoy really large and black cinematic bars on the top and bottom of your videos, this app is for you. I guess what they say is true: once you go black, you can’t go back. In this app’s case, it’s for real.
