User Reviews

Overall, GCash is convenient when it works: transfers and bill payments can be fast, and some users successfully use it for shopping. However, reviews repeatedly highlight major issues: difficult verification and login (OTP, biometrics, delays), serious security and funds access problems (money held or disappeared; foreigners facing restrictions), poor and slow customer support, and instability with large transfers or bank transfers. App bugs, hangs, and crashes are common. These reliability and support problems undermine trust, making the service feel risky despite its useful features for everyday payments.
Pros
  • Easy to use for transfers when the system works
  • Fast and reliable payments and transfers when functioning
  • Useful for paying bills and shopping with merchants (e.g., Lazada, Grab)
  • Has premium features like GCash Plus (useful for some users)
Cons
  • Verification and login problems (KYC delays, OTP delivery issues, biometric verification failures)
  • Funds access and security concerns (money held or disappeared; some users feel blocked or scammed)
  • Poor or slow customer support with automated responses and no live help
  • Limitations and instability for large transfers or transferring to bank accounts; issues with high-value transactions
  • Frequent app reliability issues (bugs, hangs, crashes, slow performance)

As an American I CANNOT believe this is the widely accepted payment system in the Philippines. The App is atrocious, connecting bank accounts is near impossible, once you actually do connect it, it barely wants to process the transaction.

it freezes, you can’t even move to the next screen without it crashing.
