User Reviews

Brass Notes! is praised as a simple, practical fingering reference that’s especially helpful for trumpet players and can broaden reach with alternate fingerings. Users note its usefulness in learning and maintaining brass playing, with a relatively large trumpet fingering range compared to some competitors. However, recurring critiques center on limited instrument coverage (missing several brass voices) and horn-range limitations, plus frequent requests for features like transposition and more fingerings to expand its usefulness.
Pros
  • Simple and straightforward fingering reference that’s easy to use.
  • Helpful for trumpet fingering and often enables alternative fingerings to hit notes more easily.
  • Positive impact on learning and maintaining brass playing; helps users continue their musical passion.
  • For trumpet players, the app offers a comparatively large fingering range relative to similar apps.
Cons
  • Incomplete instrument coverage across brass instruments (missing euphonium, bass trombone, French horn, tubas, etc).
  • Horn-related range limitations and labeling issues (French horn notes limited to about 1.5 octaves; mismatch with real instrument ranges).
  • Desires for broader features such as transposition and more instrument/fingerings to widen applicability across brass instruments.

I think it’s a nice straightforward app but it would be better if you could hear the notes

I’m really enjoying this app

It does not teacher you stuff and just shows you the notes and how to play them but it does not tell you if you are playing to wrong or right.
