User Reviews

Users broadly praise Indian Express for quality journalism, informative content, and well-organized sections. Yet the app suffers from paywalls locking most stories behind subscriptions, pricing concerns, and ads that persist for premium users. Many report bugs—articles cut off mid-text, slow loading, and saved articles failing to load—plus login persistence issues and a less readable UI on tablets. Usability problems include hard-to-copy URLs and poor article sharing. Overall, excellent content but a painful UX due to subscriptions, ads, and technical issues.
Pros
  • Quality journalism and comprehensive, balanced coverage across sections
  • Informative content with balanced perspectives
  • Well-organized headings and sectioning for easy navigation
  • Strong credibility and usefulness for civil services; has a world-class feel
  • Crisp, concise writing and informative summaries
Cons
  • Paywalls lock most stories behind subscriptions; pricing and value are questioned with inconsistent in-app pricing
  • Ads persist even for premium subscribers; ad-heavy experience and half-screen ads
  • Reliability issues: articles cut off mid-text, slow/loading problems, and saved articles failing to load
  • Login persistence problems and friction: repeated logins or missing login options
  • Readability and sharing UX: small tablet font, low-res UI, and hard-to-copy or share URLs

This version is small print. Not particularly well suited for tablet reading. 🧐

Just downloaded the app and started browsing. Requested review. Said ‘not now’. Same annoying request every time I came to the Home Screen. 5 times in as many minutes. The only option I had was to provide an honest interim review. Hope the developer is happy now. 🙏
