The Fourth Dimension is a 30-page interactive book that explains a single mathematical idea in language everyone can understand. Instead of static images or canned videos, it uses a unique 3D touch interface that lets you grasp the concept of the fourth dimension with your own hands.
Praise from Cult of Mac, BuzzFeed, The Verge, and Scientific American highlights its engaging, accessible approach to abstract math. With over 250,000 users, the app blends playful design with clear explanations, making a mind-bending concept feel tangible and approachable.
Users consistently praise The Fourth Dimension for clear explanations, engaging interactivity, and a sleek, well‑designed UI. Reviewers say it makes a very abstract idea tangible through rotating 3D shadows, interactive scenes, and concise text that aids retention, creating a learning journey worth repeating. Many highlight its educational value and enjoyable pacing. The main caveat is content scope: several reviews want more 4D shapes beyond the tesseract (e.g., simplex/5‑cell) and additional topics. Overall it’s a standout tool for math lovers, with room to expand.
Pros
Deep, thorough explanation of the fourth dimension; highly educational and intuitive.
Powerful interactive visuals and rotation; users can manipulate the tesseract to understand 4D geometry.
Excellent UI/UX and polished design; text is digestible and UI uncluttered; "masterclass in design."
Replay value and ongoing learning; content rewards repeated engagement and updates.
Cons
Content scope is limited to a tesseract; users want more 4D shapes beyond the tesseract.
There are repeated requests for additional 4D shapes beyond the tesseract (e.g., simplex/5-cell) and even 5D concepts.
Some reviewers note the demonstrations rely on 3D representations, which may limit intuition for 4D concepts for some learners.

I love this app so much. I may not use it every day, but I do use it often. It is so hard (potentially impossible even) to contemplate what a 4 dimensional object is and how it behaves. This app has been a godsend to me because it never fails to stimulate my brain in both curiosity and fascination. Highly recommend, and don’t just go through the process once. Repeat it, and marvel in it, and then after some time has passed repeat the process, and after a few times you will be blown away when you start to grasp the impossible. Thank you Devs!!!
