User Reviews

User reviews largely praise CMV for frame-by-frame analysis, zoomable playback, quick access to Camera Roll, and on-the-go editing, including side-by-side viewing on iPad and annotation tools. However, they repeatedly cite reliability problems: volume can’t be muted, playback may ignore device volume, and frequent crashes or freezes after updates. Compatibility issues with iOS versions (notably iOS 13 and newer updates) hamper usage. The UI is sometimes dated or awkward, with some controls misaligned. Upgrade prompts and feature gating also frustrate users who expect a stable, free-to-start coaching tool.

Pros

Frame-by-frame playback with slow motion, zoom, and precise frame controls.
Easy, fast access to Camera Roll videos for review.
Side-by-side analysis support on iPad.
Video editing, markup, and annotation features.
Fast, on-the-go film editing suitable for coaching.

Cons

Volume controls fail: app plays at full volume and ignores device mute/volume settings.
Frequent crashes, freezes, and unresponsiveness, especially after updates.
Compatibility issues with iOS versions (older iOS 13 and newer updates) causing launch problems.
Dated UI with overlapping controls and occasional off-screen buttons.
In-app upgrade prompts and gating of features; free version limitations.

Recent reviews

The sound on the app will not turn off & plays a full volume. Horrible feature, fix this immediately

This was my go to app for viewing my swing but no longer works after I updated my phone to ios17. It crashes scrolling down the open menu everytime. App is desperate need of an update if anybody is home.
