However, the core experience is increasingly marred by intrusive ads and monetization pressure, plus stability and update issues (crashes after matches, broken tournament formats, and occasional sound glitches). The game’s charm endures for longtime players, but many want an opt-in ad-free version and more balanced progression without frequent regressions.

I used to play this years ago. It was a fantastic app, with a simple premise, and fantastic career mode. The game’s difficulty increases as time progresses, choices matter more and more, and yet you feel rewarded for your skill as it improves and improves. A splendid and robustly designed little game that’s stolen hours of my life. The match commentary is fun, and the replay ability is high. However, as I now return to it, I find the ads more intrusive than they once were. Before, if I recall correctly, ads were on demand. You wouldn’t run into them playing the game unless you respected a reward that played an ad. Now, there’s no way to avoid them. Worse, there’s no way to buy an “ad-less” game. You must deal with ads to get the fun experience. I must insist: the hours I’ve put into this game, and how very rewarding it is to bring a footballer from rags to riches is PHENOMINAL. But sadly, it seems this game has gone the way of passive monetization. This would easily be 5 stars in its previous state, and at least 4 if not 5 stars if they added a way to remove non opt-in ads.
