User Reviews

Reviewers praise NOAA Weather Radar for its radar maps and up-to-date weather information, with many relying on it for professional or serious weather watching. The radar feature and alerts are repeatedly cited as its core value. However, recurring issues appear across reviews: unreliable push notifications and alerts, data gaps where weather info shows null, and post-update regressions that reduce radar quality or remove features like county boundaries and favorites. Users also dislike location limitations (can't set other locations, short forecast horizon) and report poor customer support. Overall, strong functionality marred by consistency and support problems.
Pros
  • Radar maps are the primary, highly valued feature for tracking storms.
  • Provides up-to-date, trustworthy weather information, used by professionals.
  • Severe weather alerts/notifications are important (when functioning).
  • Long-term reliability; users have used it for years.
  • Useful for specialized users like truckers and serious weather watchers.
Cons
  • Alerts/notifications are unreliable; push notifications sometimes fail or do not trigger alerts.
  • Weather data can fail to load or show null values in the app.
  • Post-update regressions reduce radar quality or remove features like county boundaries and favorites.
  • Cannot set different locations; limited location options and short forecast horizon.
  • Poor customer support and lack of timely responses.

I used to love this app but now I hate it. I used to be able to pick a state and go to a radar site of my choosing. Now it’s some ugly radar on a satellite map and I can’t even figure out how to put the radar in motion. PLEASE change it back. If I could give it no stars I would. Here is my previous review just so you know I’m not a malcontent: I'm a meteorologist and think this is a fantastic app! I use it daily, usually as soon as I get up in the morning. It's a great app that can be used to "nowcast" or get a sense of what's happening out there right now. Ultimately this helps me begin putting together my forecast for the day. If you're a casual fan of mother nature or even someone who makes a living at it this is a great addition & well worth the money.
