User Reviews

Brush DJ is praised for making brushing engaging and motivating, especially for kids and teens, and for the ability to play your own music and receive reminders. Reviewers also cite its suitability for families, teachers, and dental patients as a helpful motivational tool. However, recurring concerns include unreliable music integration (Spotify/Apple Music), permissions and crashes, plus several UI stability issues (playlist load problems, back button issues). Users also request more features (restart option, longer sessions, quadrant brushing) and note occasional iOS-related playback cutoffs. Overall, it works well when stable but reliability varies.
Pros
  • Makes brushing fun and helps users reach a two-minute routine.
  • Allows playing own music or playlists during brushing, adding a personal touch.
  • Reminders help establish routines and support motivation for brushing.
  • Simple, kid-friendly interface that’s easy to use.
  • Useful for parents, teachers, and dental patients as a motivational tool.
Cons
  • Music integration is unreliable; Spotify/Apple Music often won’t load or play, and permissions can block access.
  • Frequent UI and stability bugs (playlist loading issues, back button stops working, occasional crashes).
  • Reminders/alerts sometimes don’t trigger or work.
  • Requests for more features like a restart button, longer sessions, and more granular brushing zones.
  • App performance issues on some iOS versions (e.g., 30-second cutoffs) or crashes when using music features.

It can’t even play my favorite song

Wow

I have issues playing my own music. I can only play the app’s music which I don’t want to do, or not why I downloaded it. Until this issue is resolved, I’m going to give it 2 Stars. Update: I figured out how to get the music to work. I didn’t confirm the permissions to allow it to play. I wish there was another option or way to play music from a different app besides within the operating system in the phone. Until there’s more options added, I’ll now rate it to 4 stars.
