Features & Capabilities

Meraki Systems Manager is Cisco's Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution that lets IT teams manage all iOS devices from a central web dashboard. Installing this app on iOS devices provides enhanced MDM and MAM capabilities, including a managed app store, content delivery with Backpack, and GPS location reporting.

Use this extension to deploy and monitor iOS devices at scale with centralized control over apps, data, and security. Note: continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life.

User Reviews

Meraki Systems Manager provides strong centralized MDM and device/location management with security integration, but is hampered by unreliable location data, aggressive restrictions that hinder legitimate use, difficult uninstall flows, privacy concerns, and occasional stability/UX problems.

Pros

Centralized device management and restriction enforcement (MDM) across school/enterprise devices.
Location tracking to locate and recover lost or stolen devices.
Integration with Cisco Security Connector for broader security coverage.
Unified management of devices and resources across endpoints.

Cons

Location tracking is frequently unreliable or inaccurate (GPS data often off or not locating devices).
End-user restrictions block legitimate apps and activities, causing frustration for students and staff.
Uninstall/enrollment flows can be difficult: the app can be hard to remove and may reinstall itself.
Privacy concerns about IT access and monitoring of devices used by students/workers.
Stability and UX issues including glitches, crashes, and confusing notifications.
