User Reviews

Users praise the app for strong phonics content and speaker-based pronunciation, including alignment with curriculums like Abeka. However, repeated issues with audio are prominent: playback volume is frequently inaudible, and voice playback can be inconsistent or nonfunctional, sometimes device-specific (notably on iPhone). Additional UI bugs include accidental word changes with screen touches, which disrupt learning. Overall, while many see educational value and usefulness as a phonics tool, the frequent audio problems and reliability concerns have led to frustration and refund requests among users.
Pros
  • Strong phonics content that aligns with curriculum (e.g., Abeka Phonics).
  • Multiple pronunciations with a built-in speaker for pronunciation practice.
  • Generally considered a helpful learning tool for teaching vocabulary sounds.
Cons
  • Sound/volume is often inaudible or very low, making words hard to hear.
  • Voice playback/recording can be inconsistent or stop working.
  • On-screen words can change unintentionally with light touches, disrupting teaching flow.
  • iPhone-specific issues and device-dependent performance (e.g., poor volume on iPhone 8).

I have the volume on my phone all the way up, and I can hardly hear the word that it’s telling me.

No matter how high the volume is on the phone, I can barely hear the app voice. Also same problem with recording. Also when I swipe the word, I cannot swipe back to return or reverse or review.
