User Reviews

Overall, the app is praised for its deep customization and reliable timer, making it ideal for home games and clubs, plus strong support and solid external-display use. Recurring drawbacks include sync issues across devices, occasional stability problems, and a desire for broader ecosystem support (Apple TV/Mac, PiP) and UI improvements for big-screen visibility. The core experience remains strong, with many users finding it essential for tournaments and large group play.
Pros
  • Extensive customization of blinds, antes, breaks, seating, and payouts to fit various game formats (home games, leagues, and tournaments).
  • Reliable timer with audible/voice alerts that keep players informed and help manage pace.
  • Strong suitability for multi-player setups and large groups, including long-term use in clubs and regular home games.
  • Responsive support and helpful in-app guidance, with developers actively assisting users.
  • Excellent compatibility with external displays (HDMI/TVs) for sharing blinds and timer across screens, useful for home tournament setups.
Cons
  • Remote synchronization issues: starting, pausing, and timing can drift between devices when using the remote feature.
  • Stability problems on some devices: reports of the app crashing or disappearing after launch.
  • Gaps in ecosystem integration: requests for Apple TV and Mac versions, PiP, and broader multi-screen cross-device support are common.
  • UI/visibility limitations on larger displays: seating charts and chip values aren’t always viewable at a glance and require scrolling.
  • Occasional feature/accuracy gaps (e.g., blinds level inconsistencies) and ongoing requests for additional customization and alert options.

Our monthly group had been using Poker Timer Pro since 2022. As we kept playing together we got more curious about analytics and how we’re performing. I’d send the log files to those that were curious. While sending the log history, I was surprised to see a new update (5.0.16). I upgraded, curious about what was in the new version. The stats detailing ROI and leaderboards are very interesting. One challenge emerged though: the player records weren’t syncing up with my logs. Ron was INCREDIBLY helpful with taking my input and finding the issue. 5.0.17 promises to be an exciting change from last month.

First thank you for grandfathering in Poker Timer Pro purchasers, class move! Love the new interface and the remote works much better with near-zero lag. There does seem to be an issue with the TTS speech text box not committing changes, but I'm sure that will be fixed soon. Great app, it really makes ou Monday night tournament feel a little more 'Pro'. One suggestion for a feature - we usually have music playing during our games and a way to control that from the app would be great!
