User Reviews

Users praise Harriet Lane Handbook as a portable, trusted daily reference for pediatric dosing, with handy favorites and search features and a strong formulary component. Many rely on it as a go-to resource in clinical practice. However, reviews consistently cite drawbacks: a high price, inconsistent updates and compatibility issues that hinder opening or force repurchase, and suboptimal search/navigation. Additional concerns include the absence of an integrated dosing calculator/sliders, limited cross-referencing, and readability/layout problems on small screens. Overall, content is valued but app design and updates lag.
Pros
  • Portable and handy as a reference on the phone for pediatric dosing.
  • Daily-use trusted resource; a go-to reference for clinicians.
  • Ability to save favorites and perform searches.
  • Formulary and expanded drug search are valuable features.
Cons
  • High price for the content; perceived as expensive.
  • Inconsistent updates/compatibility issues; some versions won’t open after iOS updates and may require repurchasing.
  • Search and navigation are suboptimal; limited search power.

have to reference 3 different areas for ped dose calc for po liquids rather than 1 like other apps which provide “sliders” for best by disease, mg per kilo per day , max dose, and duration.

In the past Harriet Lane provided a pediatrics dosage calculator for each drug. This application does not, which is disappointing.

Hospital Pharmacist for over 30 years, have been using Harriet Lane all this time. This is my go to reference for checking drug doses for kids. Handy to have on my phone.
