User Reviews

Grand Prix Story is a deeply detailed racing management sim by Kairosoft with racing flavor. Reviewers praise its depth, humor, and the pay-once model with no IAPs, plus strong long-term replayability. However, stability issues recur: crashes, lag, and launch/load failures across devices and iOS versions, especially after updates. When it runs, it offers a rewarding, busy manager experience that fans of simulations and racing will likely adore, though compatibility issues can dampen the experience.
Pros
  • Deep, detailed racing management with extensive content (cars, parts, crew, training, sponsorships) that appeals to hardcore racing fans.
  • Polished design with humor and evident love from the developers; strong attention to detail.
  • One-time purchase with no in-app purchases, offering good value.
  • Long-term replayability and enduring appeal; players report years of play and multiple playthroughs.
  • Rewarding management gameplay that is engaging once you learn the systems.
Cons
  • Crashes, lag, and performance problems, especially after updates.
  • App won't load or crashes on launch on some devices/OS versions.
  • Compatibility issues on older devices and OS versions (e.g., slow performance on older iPhones, patch-related problems).

This games is a hidden GEM! Everyone is sleeping on this! Devs! You have a powder keg waiting to explode! This game has SOOOO MUCH. And yet, 32 reviews? I am going to do everything in my power to make this game known. It is one of the app store’s ALL TIME GREATS! I’ve played this game since 2013 and am still hooked whenever I come back to it. It’s the attention to details, precision in action, love for design, and the epitome of devs putting love into their code. From jokes in character descriptions, to discovering that you have to upgrade a part to 100% to discover a newer, better part(you’re welcome). This game needs a community, it needs appreciation. I hope the devs look back on this game and recreate the love in a successor. GPS2 is not a successor.

EDIT: like 5-7 years later got this game again. Played nonstop beat it in 7 hours - maxed stats, 999 research points, beat Kairoland track, have 2 kairo kars. Game was too addictive so deleted it lol. But super fun and very well made. I love how much detail Kairo put into this. I mean they have successfully reached the hardcore race-fan crowd with this. Even in the animations during racing, the more you train your drivers the cleaner the apexes they take and the more they go WOT. Also the names are a hoot and cleverly done, like "Ireton Cena", "S. Bettel", "Lou Hampton", and the game just seems to pick fun at itself and not take itself to seriously as you play. Fun game, if you like and respect racing, you'll enjoy it. If you like simulation/management games, you'll enjoy it too.

Well I play this game since they released it and still play it till today. But there is a bug that never happened before. When I moved up to Formula Asia, I have 2 teams now. Normally when cars were fixed, the driver and crews’ status will go up randomly. But my 1st team stat got nothing, all I get is tech +0, pedal +0 and all +0. Do you know why this happened?
