User Reviews

User reviews largely praise the app as a simple, affordable tool that helps learners visualize and practice holds, and it’s valued for quick, portable study and for instructors. However, recurring complaints center on accuracy issues in the hold entries and plan view (wrong directions, inbound/outbound confusion), which can cause confusion and waste study time. Other frequent concerns include the app feeling outdated with limited support from developers, and a desire for more instructional content and support for multiple entry methods and radials. Overall, useful but with significant caveats.
Pros
  • Effective tool for learning holds and holding entries; helps students and instructors grok the concepts and build confidence.
  • Simple, intuitive, and quick to use; ideal for visual learners and portable practice anywhere.
  • Helpful for IFR checkride prep and practicing the pen method; improves the ability to visualize and draw the hold.
  • Low-cost and generally good value for the functionality.
Cons
  • Significant accuracy issues: incorrect hold directions and plan view (direct/teardrop/parallel), plus inbound/outbound confusion.
  • App appears outdated with little or no developer updates or response to feedback.
  • Limited instructional content; only one method is shown and fewer radials; users want more explanations and options.
  • Some reviews describe the app as a waste of money due to inaccuracies.

As a CFII, I thought this app would be great for practice for my students but it turns out that the Entries are wrong for the turns. I do not recommend.

I even sent an email to the developer and they did not respond. I have decided they know and dont want to fix this. The practice screen seems ok, but then the plan view is incorrect. It has wasted valuable time. Do not purchase!

Excellent tool. I wish I had found this app before. After battling with different methods. This has been the best , and easiest for me to learn about holdings and holding entries
