User Reviews

Users praise the eEdition for its newspaper content and a tablet-friendly reading experience, but repeatedly report login failures, edition-loading problems, unstable performance, and a degraded UX after updates, including missing search/sharing features and obstructive UI elements.
Pros
  • High-quality newspaper content presented in the eEdition (positive notes like 'Great paper' and 'Great app for reading the Californian').
  • Tablet/large-screen reading looks good and readable in the tablet edition.
  • Replica edition offers a familiar reading experience and is handy for on-the-go viewing.
Cons
  • Frequent login/sign-in issues and repeated prompts to sign in or renew; sometimes unable to log in.
  • Current edition not loading reliably; newest editions fail to appear or require reinstalling; difficulty navigating between days/editions.
  • General reliability issues: pages fail to load, app crashes, slow performance, or loading yesterday's paper instead of today's.
  • Loss of features and confusing UX: search feature removed or non-functional; back/forward navigation obscures text; inability to zoom or clip/share articles.
  • Ads/overlays interfere with readability; app size is large.

Great paper !

First, I would like a seamless transition from, “your subscription has expired” to “renew now”. I shouldn’t need a password that I can’t replace if forgotten to give you my money. Some articles, I skip altogether just because of the headline knowing the liberal slant. The sports just keeps getting smaller until it disappears and so will I. Thank you, John Nash
