User Reviews

Users praise the magazine’s high-quality, globally informed content and visuals, but the app is hampered by stability and access issues (crashes, broken downloads, and post-update lockouts) and missing features like printing and cross-article search. Content quality remains strong, but the user experience needs major fixes.
Pros
  • High-quality woodworking content with a distinct international perspective and strong photography.
  • Inspiring projects and techniques; broad coverage that complements other woodworking magazines.
  • Digital delivery is convenient and often cheaper than print; extra images via swiping.
  • Professional presentation and layout.
  • Global coverage and editorial voice add variety to the woodworking genre.
Cons
  • Frequent app instability: crashes, grey/black screens, and slow loading.
  • Purchase/access friction: upfront buy may not grant access, paywalls, and post-update lockouts.
  • Flaky downloads and missing library after updates.
  • Missing pro features: printing, cross-article search, and richer technical detail.
  • Interface can be slow or clunky at times.

I’ve reloaded this app 17 times and I still can’t get to the homepage or select an issue. All I get is a grey screen. It might be great material, but I may never know.

FW is to power tool focused for me - there is a nice balance here with interesting articles on new designers etc.

I find this to be a great complement to Fine Woodworking. It offers a certain British sensibility to the projects, and it shows great respect for the traditions and methods of classical woodworking. While it emphasizes hand work a little more than I might like, it always offers me something to learn in every issue. A must read.
