Features & Capabilities

NerdCalc is a multi-base calculator that shows binary, hexadecimal, and decimal representations at the same time. You can switch which base you input in, and the results automatically update across all three bases, regardless of input mode. It supports unsigned numbers and two's complement for negative values, and it includes basic arithmetic, logic operations, and bitwise shifts.

Ideal for developers, students, and anyone working with low-level data, NerdCalc is designed as a lightweight Chrome extension to simplify base conversions and quick calculations without leaving your browser.

User Reviews

Reviewers praise NerdCalc for its powerful low-level capabilities—bitwise and arithmetic operations across large integers with multi-base displays (decimal, binary, hex)—and for its intuitive, easy-to-use UI. It’s valued for real-world tasks like 2's-complement conversions, subnetting, bit masking, and even color calculations. However, user feedback highlights several recurring drawbacks: the 2's-complement function can crash or be unreliable, recent updates bring intrusive ads, and the app has compatibility issues with older iOS versions due to required updates. Overall, the app is highly functional for programmers, but reliability and compatibility concerns hinder ongoing use for some users.
Pros
  • Powerful low-level capabilities with bitwise and arithmetic operations on large integers, plus multi-base output (decimal, binary, hex) and support for signed/unsigned values.
  • Intuitive, easy-to-use interface that makes testing results quick.
  • Useful for real-world tasks like 2's complement conversions, subnetting, bit masking, and color calculations.
  • Includes bit manipulations (Shift, And, Or, XOR) and supports large integer handling, making it versatile for debugging hardware and software.
Cons
  • 2's complement mode is buggy and can crash or misbehave.
  • Updates introduce intrusive ads that disrupt the experience.
  • Requires iOS 5 or newer, causing compatibility issues for users on older devices.

My goodness, I’ve used it maybe ten times so far in two days, and it asks me for a review every time. I’m just writing this to shut it up, gosh dang, wow.

I use this calculator frequently for my job. Easily lets you perform all logical and math operations on any size integer value. Result can be viewed in decimal, binary and hexadecimal at the same time. Works with signed and unsigned values.
