User Reviews

Users value Global Storms for its useful, data-driven hurricane information and straightforward, mobile-friendly layout. However, pervasive advertising—long video ads, hard-to-close popups, and redirects—greatly degrades usability; many users would pay for an ad-free version or rely on the NHC site. Some reports also note occasional map/ satellite view issues and limited responsiveness from the developer.
Pros
  • Useful, data-driven hurricane information from the NHC; reliable and easy to read.
  • Simple, straightforward layout that presents the data clearly.
  • Quick, mobile-friendly access to official storm content on your phone.
  • Long-standing utility for users in hurricane-prone areas.
Cons
  • Excessive, intrusive ads that interrupt use and are hard to close or skip.
  • Ad-supported model makes the app nearly unusable unless you pay for ad-free access.
  • Ads cause navigation issues, including redirects and frequent popups.
  • Occasional feature problems such as satellite loops/maps not loading or stalling.
  • Perceived lack of timely developer support.

You need to update. It is the Gulf of America, not the Gulf of Mexico. The new name reflects the two continents that make up the Americas, I.e., NorthAmerica and South America. Please update.

30-60 seconds each, usually that insufferable royal match ad, no way to pass by. App would be fine if it wasn’t for that. Bookmarking the NHC website gets you there without the waiting.

I like the app but there is way to many ads.
