Features & Capabilities

Time Guru Metronome trains your inner clock by introducing intentional silence. It periodically goes quiet—randomly, in patterns, or both—so you discover whether you rush, drag, or lose your place. Features include random muting, pattern muting, and unlimited meter sequences, with meters up to 16/x and easy drag-and-drop reordering.

Other highlights include gradual tempo changes, a practical practice timer, 35 sound sets with accent control, drum-pattern options, multilingual voice counting, tap tempo, iCloud backup, light/dark themes, and full VoiceOver accessibility. The app delivers rock-solid timing via a custom audio engine and works on Mac (Apple Silicon) as well as iOS.

User Reviews

Time Guru Metronome excels at flexible rhythm/tempo customization (odd meters, pattern-based mute) and per-song presets with instrument-specific sounds, making it a powerful teaching and practice tool. Reviewers praise its versatility and ability to help internalize timing. However, multiple reviews note post-update reliability and UI issues: performance slowdowns, light/sound desync, and tempo glitches; reorganized UI reduces intuitiveness; trouble deleting or editing saved tempos; and occasional BPM bugs.
Pros
  • Highly flexible meter and rhythm customization (odd meters, patterns, and mixing rhythms)
  • Random mute/pattern mute feature to aid timing practice
  • Per-song tempo/time presets with instrument-specific sound options
  • Great teaching tool for uneven pulses and complex rhythms; versatile for practice
  • Simple on-device metronome that can scale from basic clicks to powerful training setups
Cons
  • Post-update reliability and synchronization issues (lag, slow performance, light vs sound desync, tempo glitches)
  • UI/UX complexity after updates (reorganized features; not intuitive; hard to program)
  • Difficulty managing saved tempos/presets (inability to delete tempos; editing tempo lists issues)
  • Tempo-specific bugs (occasional BPM jumps like 99-101; can't set 100)

This app is helping me get better at rhythm one click at a time. It’s not super fancy. But I like that since my main goal isn’t to learn a metronome tools it’s to learn how to count for my instrument.
