User Reviews

City Journal is praised for high-quality, well-researched, fact-based journalism with independent thinking and credible contributors. Reviewers highlight its clear, objective coverage and readable iPad experience, noting the design is well-suited for tablets and enhances reading. A recurring caveat is app reliability, including subscription access problems and occasional crashes, which some readers encounter, along with reports of a cumbersome website. Overall, the app is valued for thoughtful, data-backed analysis, strong writing, and a trusted alternative to mainstream outlets, with room to improve stability and site usability.
Pros
  • High-quality, well-researched, data-driven journalism with independent thinking; articles begin with facts and encourage independent opinion.
  • Credible, diverse pool of scholars and writers; thorough analyses; courage to cover topics honestly.
  • Consistently objective reporting that describes situations as they are, not solely agenda-driven.
  • Excellent iPad reading experience: clean, readable layout with no pinch-zoom and strong typography; formats well for iPad Pro and Newstand.
  • Valuable, thoughtful coverage that readers trust as a reliable source beyond mainstream media.
Cons
  • App reliability issues: multiple reviews note problems with subscription sign-in, access to paid articles, and occasional crashes.
  • Cumbersome or less-smooth website experience.

Articles that begin with facts, then develop a point of view based upon those facts but leave much intellectual space for the reader to form an independent opinion.

I have been studying the Frankfurt School’s impact on our academic institutions and governments since the 1970’s . I had given up on attempting to alert the elected officials of the “ impending fruits” of the Frankfurt Schoolers and their ilk. Although I believe it may be “to little, too late” , Chris Rufo has shown the energy and knowledge necessary to do incredible damage to their efforts.
