Just run the application and point your iPhone camera in any direction. You will hear a higher or lower sound depending on the intensity of the light. If you are blind, Light Detector helps you to be more independent in many daily activities. At home, point your iPhone towards the ceiling to understand where the light fixtures are and whether they are switched on. In a room, move the device along the wall to check if there is a window and where it is. You can find out whether the shades are drawn by moving the device up and down.

I am completely blind and use this often. I have guests and children who turn on the lights all the time and I have no clue the lights are even on. In the evenings I turn this app on and walk throughout my home and turn off all the lights left on by my guests and kids. Thank you so much to the developer for making this app. Please continue to update the app so it works on all future iOS versions. Thanks again.

I too am totally blind. I’m so glad, and so is my spouse, that I can now help make sure all the lights are off at night!! ‘This is a totally awesome app!!!
