User Reviews

Home Contents is praised for being easy to use, offering a reasonable one-time price, storing data locally with export options, and providing strong organization plus helpful reporting and photo-based entry. It is highly valued for insurance-related inventories. Common drawbacks across reviews include the lack of a MacOS/desktop companion app and cross-device syncing, currency localization tied to the iPhone language, limited collaboration for families, and requests for more sub-categories and finer data granularity.
Pros
  • Easy to use and user-friendly
  • One-time fee instead of a subscription; good value
  • Data stored locally on device with export options (privacy) and can export to iCloud
  • Strong inventory organization (by location/storage, categories) with photos
  • Effective photo-based entry creation and reporting/exporting features helpful for insurance
Cons
  • Lacks MacOS/desktop companion app; no cross-platform sync beyond iOS
  • Currency/locale tied to iPhone language; cannot independently set currency
  • Cannot share inventory with spouse/family; single Apple ID collaboration limitation
  • Lacks sub-categories; limited granularity; requests for more structure

I love the app - it’s a game changer. Only thing I wish was different is that there was a desktop version or website you could login through. When you have a lot to upload, it sucks having to do it from your phone. But that’s not a big deal, just a personal preference so I would 100% still give it 5 stars!

I’ve been trying to find a solid inventory/belongings app that supports QR codes (for labels), doesn’t require a user account, a monthly subscription, or cloud storage: this app checks all but one of these and I’d be more than happy to pay the quite reasonable one-time fee to unlock full use if QR scab and print support was included. Developer: please, if possible, add this feature!

Still needs tweaks in uploading and pictures duplicating wasting time to delete extra pictures of the same items
