Overview

Features & Capabilities

Scriptural Rosary is a prayer app that places short scripture verses before each Hail Mary to cultivate meditative prayer. It supports Knox Bible, New American Bible, or Douay-Rheims, and can automatically show the correct mystery for each day or let you choose any mystery (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, or Luminous). You can adjust the font size, resume where you left off, access Latin prayers, disable the Luminous mysteries, set daily reminders, and use the built-in audio or record your own voice. You can also add petitions or closing text and pray in a group with nearby devices via Bluetooth or WiFi, in multiple languages.

This universal app runs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, with language options including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Indonesian. Features like progress saving, font resizing, daily reminders, Latin prayers, petitions and closing text, and optional audio make prayer convenient whether solo or in a small group.

User Reviews

Users praise Scriptural Rosary for its beautiful visuals, complete prayers and scriptures, flexible use, and overall ease of use. However, multiple reviews request updating the pope to Leo XIV and updating imagery, while reliability issues (crashes), a robotic voice, and missing Apple Watch audio are common complaints. The app's content and aesthetics are strong, but updates and stability improvements are repeatedly desired.
Pros
  • Beautiful artwork and imagery accompany each mystery, aiding visualization and meditation.
  • Includes all prayers and scriptures; prayers are provided and the pacing helps you stay on track and evenly paced.
  • Option to use scripture or not, providing flexible meditation and reading choices.
  • Easy to use and well-crafted; many reviewers consider it one of the best rosary apps.
  • Prayers and intentions can be set before starting, adding a personal focus to the prayer.
Cons
  • Pope Leo XIV update is still not reflected in prayers and imagery; Pope Francis is still referenced in several places.
  • App reliability issues: crashes or won’t open on some devices, making it unusable at times.
  • Robotic/AI voice reading the rosary is off-putting for several users.
  • Apple Watch support lacks audio playback, reducing hands-free or audio-assisted praying.

I appreciate this app more than any other. All scripture is written out and with the prayers also written out again and again I am not only kept on track but also evenly paced. Could you please update with our new pope, Pope Leo. Thank you all

The beautiful artwork which helps you to visualize and meditate with each mystery is only exceeded by the precious prayers accompanying each mystery, and it really helps to keep you focused on our Lord and savior and of course on our Holy Mother. All the prayers before the start of the rosary in which you may also state your intentions makes this, in my humble opinion, the best complete rosary app. Thank you so much to its developers.
