Features & Capabilities

Animals: Friends. Not food.

Eating out has never been easier for vegetarians and vegans as the number of restaurants catering to us continues to grow. The Vegman App helps you find vegetarian and vegan, as well as VEG-friendly restaurants - and wherever you are in the world, it tells you how to get to them.

Waiting for your food? You can use this time to read our newly improved blog right from the Vegman App!

The Vegman App is a companion app for the community based website www.vegman.org. Please note: Vegman is a work in progress. There are many vegan, vegetarian and, VEG-friendly restaurants in the world and we need your help to identify them. Via our website you can upload images, write reviews, rate restaurants you have visited and flag wrong content, so the community can profit from your experiences as you will profit from content submitted by others. This content will also be accessible in the Vegman App and in a upcoming version we will implement the function to submit data directly from the app.

We want to thank our worldwide community for helping us build Vegman. Your participation leads to a better world, and the animals and environment thank you for it!

User Reviews

The Vegman app is a strong idea that helps locate vegan/vegetarian options and works well for travelers, with maps and website details. However, it suffers from stability issues, outdated/incomplete data, and limited coverage. Users report crashes, slow updates, search glitches, and unaddressed restaurant submissions. Many requests center on adding a veg-friendly category, miles distance units, and price indicators. Overall, it’s a free and easy-to-use tool with great potential, but it needs ongoing updates and data quality improvements.
Pros
  • Easy to use and user-friendly for finding vegan/vegetarian options.
  • Useful for travel; shows nearby vegan/vegetarian restaurants.
  • Includes maps and website info to help locate places.
  • Free to use.
  • Concept is strong and allows users to suggest/add restaurants to improve the database.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and bugs; app is unstable.
  • Data is outdated/incomplete; listings are sparse and rarely updated.
  • Search and navigation can be clunky; results sometimes obscured by suggestions.
  • Inaccurate listings and unaddressed user suggestions; many submitted places never get added.
  • Missing features and preferences: miles/km toggle, veg-friendly filter, and price indicators.

I downloaded this app with the hopes of finding vegan options in the city I just moved to. When I seared my zip code, it only came up with Smoothie King. Just because other restaurants aren’t vegan does not mean they do not have vegan options, which is what I was hoping would come up. This is a good idea but could use much improvement.

Second time. This is not a great app. Searching was a struggle. I can't even see the results because the search bar suggestions cover it. Internet is better and quicker.

The "upcoming" section hasn't been updated since 2013. If I could, I would beg the developer to either get motivated again, or sell this app to someone who will completely transform it into what it needs to be. This is such a helpful tool, it just needs to be revamped and constantly checked on. Please. *knockknock*
