User Reviews

Dice Ex Machina is praised for its folder-based organization, custom dice sets, broad game-system support, and clean UI, plus a favorable one-time premium model with backup options. Core concerns focus on a learning curve and lack of tutorials, and on requests for advanced features (exploding dice, multiplication, composite modifiers) to handle more complex rules.
Pros
  • Flexible folder system to group dice and roll whole sets at once.
  • Extensive custom dice sets and saved presets for quick, complex rolls.
  • Broad support for many dice types and game systems, with a built‑in dice calculator.
  • Clean, well‑organized UI that feels intuitive for many users.
  • One‑time premium purchase unlocks extra dice/settings and includes easy data backup/export.
Cons
  • Steep learning curve and lack of in‑app tutorials; not intuitive for new users.
  • Missing advanced features like exploding dice, dice multiplication, and composite modifiers that many players want.

This is the best dice app for me and has the features I want immediately and ones I’m certain I will take advantage of later. Small steps right now. I use other dice beyond the traditional polyhedra (like in DCC) and having those physical dice can be inconvenient or impossible. I used Dice Ex Machina to create a folder with all the non-standard values I need and can tap the one I want or all simultaneously.

Just not intuitive at all, no tutorials or assistance built in. Not happy.

All the choices you need for classic cars, smokes & counter counting. Come on. Do you really need to watch a number till it lands? What good is it when Rosencrantz & Guildenstern argued this with a quarter every morning till it was precedent to step aside Shakespeare’s stage and wonder why.
