User Reviews

There are many things to like about this app. The words are sounded out phonetically & that is nice. The blocks are defined by the sounds not by letters. That is an improvement over most phonics apps. However, The voice is annoying & in some instances incorrectly articulates the sounds. It would be a greatly appreciated improvement if there were user controls to select or deselect words. Also the ability to record would be fantastic. Looking forward to updates!

I really wanted to like this app. I have been looking for a phonics app that goes beyond just the three letter sight words and teaches blended consonant sounds like 'th', 'sh', 'ch', 'sl' and other vowel sounds like 'ea', 'oa' and 'ie'. Sadly, the creator chose to use a child's voice as the enunciator, which as we know, is usually unintelligible at times and this one is no exception. But most egregiously, the letter combinations are just plain wrong. If the word is 'Boat', the 'oa' sound is 'o' as in 'go' NOT 'i', as in 'pin'. Yet, the whole word boat is pronounced largely correctly. Perhaps that is how it is pronounced 'across the pond' but not in the US. And since there was no indication that this app originated overseas, I am sorely disappointed. Propper phonetic pronunciation is crucial in early readers, so this app truly misses the mark. Save your money. It really isn't worth the $1.99. If there was a free/trial version to preview, I would have learned before I purchased.
