User Reviews

The Groups app is lauded for making contact management easier and enabling quick, personalized mass texts to defined groups, with useful batch sending. Users repeatedly praise its speed and convenience for organizing clubs and keeping people in the loop. However, many reviews report persistent bugs and reliability problems, especially with syncing and updating contact data. Issues include missing or misformatted numbers after iOS updates, disappearing lists, and a need to reinstall to refresh data. Some also feel the UX is not intuitive and regressed with updates. Overall, powerful but fragile.
Pros
  • Easy to use and helps organize contacts into defined groups/lists
  • Great for sending mass texts to groups with personalization
  • Batch messaging capability for large groups and efficient communication
  • Saves time and keeps everyone in the loop by coordinating across groups
Cons
  • Frequent bugs and reliability issues that disrupt usage
  • Syncing and contact data problems with iPhone contacts (missing/misformatted numbers after iOS updates)
  • Lists/groups can disappear or fail to update unless reinstall or refresh
  • UX is sometimes not intuitive and has regressed with updates (older version was better)

Messages are frequently very slow to send, often displaying a message after each send that the message was not sent and then on my Messenger app it appears they actually sent. Frequently tells me that I have canceled a batch and would I like to cancel the rest. Sometimes it just shuts itself down in the middle of sending. Using an updated iPhone 15 Pro Plus. I’m using the latest versions of the app and I’m a paid subscriber. This happened on the free version as well. VERY rarely will it send all messages without any of these things happening.

Only it almost never works. Every time I start up, I’ve lost all my groups and have to start over. Then I try to get support and I never hear from anyone. All in all it’s a great idea just poorly executed.
