User Reviews

Overall, users praise PBS for high-quality, educational programming and family-friendly content, while noting donation-based access and recurring app issues as the main drawbacks. The app is viewed as valuable and worth supporting, but improvements are needed for login reliability, playback history, and feature gaps like live local coverage and better integration.
Pros
  • High-quality, educational, and diverse programming (news, documentaries, Masterpiece, Ken Burns) across PBS.
  • Strong PBS Kids content, with popular shows like Daniel Tiger and Arthur, loved by families.
  • Valuable and essential public media; worth the price and supports education and democracy.
  • Broad library including classics and timeless programming; quality productions.
Cons
  • Donation/pledging gating access to content (e.g., Daniel Tiger) and perceived pay-to-watch drawbacks.
  • Sign-in/account issues: frequent login problems, being signed out, and blank sign-in prompts.
  • Continue-watching/history/queue problems: items persist, not removable, progress not remembered.
  • Missing features: live local coverage/integration with Apple TV channel and Passport support.

Subscriptions are horrible on this app. Won’t let you sign up. Whoever designed the mechanics of the sign service apparently has never used the internet before. They also want to text you three times a month. To send spam is the reason why. Not to tell you about their app. Total BS. Disgusting.
