User Reviews

Overall, reviewers like the app for its e-edition and timely regional coverage, especially the Blues/Cardinals beats, and for being useful when the print edition is late. However, they frequently cite delays in sports content, a steep and friction-filled paywall, confusing navigation with duplicated pages, intrusive ads, and perceived editorial bias. These issues collectively detract from the value of the app despite strong reporting.
Pros
  • The e-edition mirrors the print newspaper and is a strong option for readers who want that format.
  • The app delivers news with ongoing updates, including solid Blues and Cardinals beat reporting.
  • Very useful when the print newspaper is late or not delivered.
  • Continually adds and updates stories; overall quality of writers.
  • Generally enjoyable to read and use for region reporting.
Cons
  • Sports scores and box scores are often delayed by days, reducing timeliness.
  • High monthly cost and heavy paywall; difficulty accessing content even with a subscription.
  • App organization is inconsistent, with sections duplicated and pages repeated.
  • Frequent ads/pop-ups disrupt the reading experience.
  • Editorial content shows a pronounced partisan bias, with a perceived anti-conservative tilt.
Recent reviews
The app version of the Post-Dispatch has some nifty features. I really like the extra photographs that accompany many articles. The font is easy to read, for the most part. Organization is idiosyncratic sometimes. Articles I’d expect to see in opinion, say, simply don’t appear, like the nationally sourced columnists. While the app version is easy enough to navigate, it lacks a comment feature. Readers must use the web browser version to do that. Also, the app contains too many ads for the price of the subscription.
