Team Shake is a strong classroom tool for fast, flexible grouping and CSV import, with good support for saving rosters. The downsides are shake reliability bugs, lack of cross-device syncing and roster persistence, and a steeper learning curve due to a non-intuitive interface and limited list-management options.

Pros

Time-saving and easy to use for forming random classroom teams.
Flexible grouping controls (choose number of groups or group size, balance by skill, omit absentees).
Import lists via CSV to avoid typing every name.
Save/retain groups or rosters for future lessons.
Strong fit for education (K-12/PE) with homogeneous/heterogeneous grouping and clear group output.

Cons

Shake feature is unreliable: sometimes won’t work, and updates can crash or erase selections.
Cannot disable the shake feature or preserve groups when shaking (group selections can be lost).
Roster persistence and cross-device syncing are missing; no cloud account to sync lists across devices.
UI/UX is confusing or non-intuitive and not always consistent with preview.
No easy way to delete old lists/rosters or manage them on the main screen.

I’m not sure if it’s my iPhone or it’s operating system, but on occasion, the shake feature won’t work. I have to restart my phone to get it working again. This is frustrating because I group my PE classes at the beginning of each class and wind up having to wait until my phone is ready to begin the lesson. Also, I can’t disable the shake function (to just using the touch screen icon only). While I like the feature to select random player, it erases the selected teams. I need to be able to keep the groups on the screen as my younger students may not remember their group over the course of a lesson.

I wish this app would sync among devices. We use this for school every day. LOVE IT!!! Now our iPad is in the shop but unable to transfer the info easily to new device.

It has been a great tool as a high school teacher to assign my students into teams. I wonder if you can make it a bit less bright, some students had hard time to recognize their names.
