User Reviews

Slow Shutter Cam is praised for its creative long-exposure/ICM capabilities and flexible artistic controls, plus value and classroom use. However, multiple reviews cite blurry results, limited shutter options, gallery import restrictions, and stability issues, along with requests for manual focus/exposure controls and RAW output.
Pros
  • Excellent for creative long-exposure and ICM photography (waterfalls, light trails, embers) with strong results.
  • Rich set of unique settings and controls that encourage experimentation and artistic work.
  • Good value for money—worth the one-time purchase.
  • Long-term, classroom-friendly tool that supports art and creative projects.
Cons
  • Blurred or inconsistent image quality reported by multiple users, regardless of settings.
  • Limited exposure options (only 0.5s, 1s, and 4x) and requests for RAW/48MP output.
  • Stability issues such as black screens or app crashes requiring restarts.
  • Inability to import or edit existing photos from the gallery (no gallery import).
  • Missing core controls like manual focus and exposure sliders (and some HDR options) with users wishing for additional features.

I’ve been using this app for several years now and I use it to capture long exposures of waterfalls and creeks and fountains at about the 1 second timing setting. I like the results I get.

I use the Slow Shutter Cam app mainly for ICM (intentional camera movement) photos, occasionally incorporating multiple exposures. I don’t 100% understand the app, but this actually works for me because playing with it to see what works just adds to the creative fun.

Fantastic app! I use it a lot for ICM photography. I don’t use it for long exposure photos since I don’t have a tripod or want to use one. But I got the developer’s other app, Light Stack Camera which allows for hand holding long exposures without the need for a tripod.
