User Reviews

Mahler Translations is widely praised for exhaustive coverage of Mahler’s terms and spot-on translations that reveal the composer’s intent, saving musicians hours of work. Reviewers call it essential for serious study and performance, with an easy-to-use, searchable interface and usefulness beyond Mahler. The main caveat is incomplete coverage: several terms are missing (e.g., 'aufstehen'). A few reviewers note minor UX quirks. Despite these gaps, the app is highly recommended as a time-saving, valuable tool for students, performers, and conductors working with Mahler’s scores.
Pros
  • Comprehensive coverage of Mahler terms and markings with translations that cover many iterations.
  • Translations are accurate and provide insight into Mahler's intent, helping study and saving time.
  • Time-saving and essential for serious musicians studying Mahler.
  • Easy to use and highly searchable interface.
  • Not limited to Mahler; useful for studying other composers as well.
Cons
  • Incomplete coverage: not all terms are included, with missing entries such as 'aufstehen'.
  • Occasional UX issues and reliability hiccups (intermittent word loading when typing, and autocorrect/typing visibility quirks).

im in the minority! so dont take my words too seriously. i love the idea of this app! every note and guidance mahler has to offer and translated? thats genius! and think of how much time each translation had to take. i can that tell so much effort was put into this. and my one problem isnt even really the developers fault. my ONE problem is that all of these words are kinda meaningless without any context behind them. yes! it is a beautiful thing to read mahler’s interpretation of his own work! but which work? you can buy the translations to different symphonies! but i doubt that will solve this problem completely. i keep calling this a “problem” but maybe i just wrongly expected something different? anyway im getting off on a tangent and you get it and want me to shut up. contest me! tell me im wrong! i would love to have my mind changed.
